Learn the words of Jesus from a Messianic Jewish perspective. “A Jewish Sermon on the Mount: Exploring the Core Teachings of Jesus from a Hebraic Perspective” introduces the Hebrew idioms, Jewish contexts, and rabbinic methods at work in Jesus’ most famous sermon. Jewish Sermon on the Mount provides a brief introduction to Matthew 5–7 using a new, Hebrew-based translation of the New Testament that allows English readers to see the Hebraisms of the Master’s teaching and the richness of the Hebrew words.
Enjoy a challenging and inspiring look at Jesus’ teachings and the transformative message of the Sermon on the Mount.
- See Jewish parallels to Gospel texts and find out why Bible scholars believe the parallels are important for greater understanding.
- Discover Hebrew words that are impossible to translate into English and how translators deal with these difficult words. See the words—understand the concepts they represent and expand your understanding of the Bible.
- Hear the compelling story and see the New Testament translation of Franz Delitzsch, a nineteenth century Christian Bible-translator considered one the greatest lights of Messiah to the Jewish people.
Learn and see what was so distinctive to Jesus’ teaching in this passage that produced such a response, “the crowd was amazed at his teaching, for he was teaching them as a man of authority, and not like the soferim” (Matthew 7:28–29).
The Hebrew/English Sermon on the Mount
There will be three teachings in a course of 2.5 hours. There will be breaks and time for questions. Everyone attending will receive an extract of Matthew 5–7 from the new Hebrew/English Gospel edition scheduled for release in the fall of 2010. Attendance is free—there will be a donation box on a table for all those that desire to help with the related expense.

FYI - Messianic Arkansas has a new site coming soon. We will hopefully try to launch it in the next week or two. For those of you who have submitted listing requests, I sincerely apologize for not being able to add you yet. I’ve had problems with updates on this site, and therefore am in the process of creating a new one which will make maintaining it much easier.
Also, we will have a new feature where individual congregations will be able to maintain and update their own content at any time and not have to wait on me to make changes.
You will also be able to post events which will be fed into the community calendar and will post the front page as the date for the event draws near.
If you have any other suggestions, please let me know, as I am right in the middle of getting this knocked out.
Many blessings,
-Darren Huckey

Ted Pearce
Ted Pearce will be performing at Congregation Chiam B’ Derech on Sunday Jan. 24, at 6:30pm. Please plan to join us then to enjoy an anointed evening of music and fun. WE will not be in big concert hall, so it will be a great time to visit with Ted afterwards, and get CD’s signed if you wish. He will have CD’s for sale as well, get his latest, and complete your collection, or start one (you will want to once you hear him!).
We will also be doing Praise and Worship dance that evening (space permitting). So if you dance, or want to try, bring your dancin’ shoes!
Hope to see you there!
Beth Cook
The address is 410 South Arkansas in Russellville AR
Directions:
Take I-40 to Russelville and take the Highway 7 exit (also known as the Arkansas Tech exit, you’ll see signs.) Get on Highway 7, at the light to your left off of the exit, Follow the road going south (turn left), into town past Tech, and look for the courthouse on your right (several miles). Once you PASS the courthouse, look for fourth street, there is a light there. DO NOT TURN ON FOURTH STREET, but go through the light (only if it’s green :-), and look for us immediately on the right.
