The Hebrew/English Sermon on the Mount

There will be three teachings in a course of 2.5 hours. There will be breaks and time for questions. Everyone attending will receive an extract of Matthew 5–7 from the new Hebrew/English Gospel edition scheduled for release in the fall of 2010. Attendance is free—there will be a donation box on a table for all those that desire to help with the related expense.

Ted Pearce

Ted Pearce will be performing at Congregation Chiam B’ Derech on Sunday Jan. 24, at 6:30pm. Please plan to join us then to enjoy an anointed evening of music and fun. WE will not be in big concert hall, so it will be a great time to visit with Ted afterwards, and get CD’s signed if you wish. He will have CD’s for sale as well, get his latest, and complete your collection, or start one (you will want to once you hear him!).

We will also be doing Praise and Worship dance that evening (space permitting). So if you dance, or want to try, bring your dancin’ shoes!

Location: From Clinton, AR, take US 65 5 miles south to AR 330 then 3.5 miles east. Follow signs into campground.

Facilities: 146 campsites (78 with electric, 68 without), flush and vault toilets, showers, drinking water, trailer dump station, launching ramp, swimming area, playground, picnic shelter, and marina.

Fees: $14 for non-electric, $17 electric, $19 prime.

Open: April 1 – Oct 31; reservable season May 15– September 5.

This will not be a group sponsored meeting, but rather the leaders from each group will be asked to help out with the services.

Simchat Torah of Arkansas

Community-wide Shabbat Service

Our weekend will begin Shabbat, August 23 at 9:30 am with a community-wide Shabbat service, hosted by Simchat Torah of Arkansas. Our Shabbat schedule will be as follows:

• 9:30 am - Shacharit (liturgical prayers, reading of Torah, Haftarah & Apostolic Writings)
• 12:00 pm - Kosher* Potluck lunch (*click here for food guidelines)
• 1:00 pm - Music & Singing
• 1:30 pm - Drash (Teaching) by Boaz Michael and B’nei Torah Class (for children)

The Commandment to Bless seminar

The Commandment to Bless seminar will be held the following day, Sunday, August 24 at 3:00 pm. There will be three sessions lasting approximately 45 minutes each, with breaks between the sessions. We will close out the day with finger foods and fellowship after the seminar during which time we invite you to participate in the experience of blessing according to the commandment, as well as getting to know other fellow believers. Please spread the word to friends and family so we can make this event a success!

We would like to tell you about our endeavor to have a monthly Shabbat (Sabbath) Service for the wider community of Central Arkansas. We hope to accomplish several goals in doing this. We see this as an opportunity for the following:

• to fellowship with other Torah-observant Believers in Yeshua the Messiah
• to share in the joy of a Sefer Torah (Torah scroll)
• to grow in our walk of Torah observance and obedience
• to encourage and help one another as we are working to establish and reach out to our respective local communities
• to share our knowledge up to this point regarding liturgy

The community-wide Shabbat Service for this month will be May 17th @ 9:30am. Sherwood Bible Church is graciously allowing us to use their facilities. Here is an outline of the order of the service:

• stay afterward to help with clean-up
• provide consumables (plates, bowls, napkins, cups, forks, spoons)
• participate in music (playing an instrument)

*Instructions Regarding Potluck Lunch

If you plan to eat with us, please bring something to contribute. Typically each family brings two items. If you are single, just one item is sufficient. Since we are all at different places in our journey regarding dietary laws and to insure we will all be able to have table fellowship with clear consciences, we have provided some helpful guidelines below to take into consideration:

1. Please only bring Biblically clean meats (see Lev. 11); that of course includes no products containing pork, shellfish, or catfish. The typical meats most of us eat are beef, chicken, turkey, deer, and once in a while, bison (no one has brought any lamb, goat or giraffe yet).
2. There are some folks who only eat meat that has a kosher certification. So if they pass by your dish, please don’t be offended.
3. We do not typically separate meat and dairy, but we will clearly label food items. If there are any questions, please feel free to ask us.
4. A sneaky ingredient that renders a product unclean is gelatin. Gelatin is found in, of course, Jell-O ® gelatin, marshmallows, yogurts and some cereals. Check the list of ingredients if you suspect gelatin. Some products do use kosher gelatin.
5. Kosher Symbols (Hechsher)—this is the best way to know that what you bring won’t contain anything unclean. Look for a kosher symbol on the product, which usually consists of a stylized K. The common ones in our area are: Circle K, Circle U and Star-K. A plain K is not a valid symbol–companies just put that on there to make you think it’s kosher.
